Two of Swords Tarot Card Meaning Upright and Reversed

Two of Swords Upright Tarot Card Meaning in a Tarot Reading

The two of swords is about making choices and weighing up options. The women in the card is blind folded… so this may mean that you are either avoiding making a choice because you don’t want to see what is in front of you or it may mean that you can one see a few options / choices and you don’t like any of them. It can feel like an impasse to your emotional body not knowing which direction to go in. This card being a swords card means that thinking / logic / and rationality is predominate. So you may be too in your head about something. You have gone round and round about the possibilities open to you… but all of them seem to take you down a road you don’t want to go. This often means that there is another possibility that you haven’t thought about. But that is going to require you to take of the blind fold and actually look at what you are avoiding / not wanting to address or see.

This can be an empowering card if you allow your ego to be neutral and don’t let your own fear rule you. If you didn’t have issues around this subject how would you feel about it? What would you choose instead? Is there a lateral move you can make that would put you on another path? Is there another person you can talk to that can bring clarity and more information or an alternative perspective to the situation? How can you stop seeing this as a problem and instead see how this is actually going to help you? The person in the card feel helpless and like they don’t know what to do/ which direction to go because they are too enmeshed in the problem. And trying to ‘solve’ the problem from this space is not going to help you move forward. But moving out of being mired in the problem and getting some space and distance form the problem can actually aid in solving it because it will disperse the stuck energy and allow solutions from source energy to come thru. So drop the blind fold. Look at what you don’t want to look at. Get curious. Seek other perspectives. Ask yourself what you would be thinking and going if you were on the other side of this. From that place you should be able to move forward much easier. Let me know if this was helpful in the comments.

Two of Swords Reversed Tarot Card Meaning in a Tarot Reading

The two of swords reversed can often mean you have too much information. When the two of swords is upright the character in the card does not have enough information and thus cannot see which direction to go in. In the reverse three of swords however, the character has too much information. This person may have to make a decision or appease many different people or groups. You may be the go between for several different family members, or are perhaps a leader of a team at work. This card denotes confusion but for different reasons than when the card is upright. This card can indicate that you are conflicted because each choice that you think of making seems like it is good for some but not others. One fraction or person may benefit but another may not. You don’t want to play favorites and you can’t see what decision is going to appease everybody.

The two of swords reversed can also denote that you have different needs than the other people involved that you have to take into consideration. So there is tension between you and others. You might feel like you are being forced to make a choice that is going to be best for all of you at the same time. But you don’t know how to do that because everyone involves (including yourself) has different needs /desires/ goals.

This may be a time to ask yourself some questions like… do I have to make the decision now? Can I postpone it till more information comes thru? Is anyone willing to compromise? Am I willing to compromise? Can I identify everyone’s top needs and goals and see if any are negotiable or able to be changed a little bit? What if I just identified everyone’s top #1 goal and then tried to make a decision from there? Can we find common ground that satisfies everyone? Basically this card is asking for a reframing. Stop struggling to win the game and ask… how can I change the parameters of the game instead?
